Episode 19: Family-Owned, Operated, and Grown with Jason Herrick of Pantera Energy

On this episode of The Gas Compression Podcast, host Michael Haning welcomes Jason Herrick, President at Pantera Energy

Pantera is based out of Amarillo, Texas, and was founded by Jason's father. He went out with a geologist and landman and started buying up fields from large oil and gas clearinghouses. Their strategy had been to look for more long-life fields to set up an asset base, then partner with other companies to service their pumps.

Before joining the operation in 2001, Jason went to the Netherlands with a consulting startup. There he gained people skills and learned the trades of the European environment.

When Jason started in 2001, Pantera had about 120 properties. At present, Pantera operates about 1,800 wells, employing a heavy acquisition strategy.

Behind their expansion success, Jason credits their ability to find ways to maximize production. Pantera has eliminated many contractor roles by training ground employees to handle their daily needs. Jason points out that the consistency gained from this has been invaluable.

Jason also discusses how they have weathered the pandemic and what they look forward to in 2022 and beyond.
